Progressing through the "Honor"
assignments
requires parent and student collaboration.
requires parent and student collaboration.
After you have read the instructions below, you can begin by clicking the blue link on the right side of this page for “Honor Level 01” or if you have already begun the “Honor” assignments select the next level to be completed.
For Honor Levels 1-12 you and your student must set a goal to be accomplished over a designated time period. One purpose of the Honor assignments is for the student to agree to a certain goal. By successfully accomplishing this goal the student will earn a “Reinforcement for Success”. If the student fails to accomplish the goal he/she will earn the “Consequence for Failure”.
We have learned the most difficult part of the Honor assignments is not with the student accomplishing the goal, but rather the parent finding the time to follow-through with the “Reinforcement for Success”.
The main motivation behind the Honor assignments is to create fun experiences between the parent and the student. We urge you to select a “Reinforcements for Success” that will involve activities with you and your student. The Honor reinforcements are another way to make sure you are spending quality time with your student, and creating great memories. This will prove to be valuable to the character development of your student.
"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
--Deuteronomy 11:18-19 (NIV)
Each level of Honor contains a scripture reference to a story about someone in the Bible who had a goal and worked to accomplish that goal. Take the opportunity to read and talk about these stories with your student.
